Experiment Axis Types

Axis types defined in SpecMan4EPR:

T Signal axis, data directly stored.
I Signal axis, the FFT stage of the Post Acquisition Processing is on: the stored trace is the Fourier transform, of the same length.
I Signal axis, Integration is on: the trace is summed over the integration region to one value.
Axis A Signal axis, Peak-to-peak is on: the trace is reduced to its peak-to-peak amplitude over the region.
I Signal axis, RMS is on: the trace is reduced to its RMS over the region.
X,Y,Z Ordinary axis.
S Sum axis. The data along this axis dimension are summed.
P Parameter axis. Size is always equal to 1. Used to set variables before or after the experiment.

Signal axis represent dimensions of experiment that are acquired during the pulse sequence (typically from the fast digitizer). Transient T icon means that full time trace will be stored to memory. Other axis types represent different processing of data. Yellow icon (for example I) represents processing which results in the same length traces. Gray icons (for example Axis A) represent processing with conversion of the whole trace into single value. In a case of I data are integrated. See Scope window for details on setting of integration range.

Introduced in version 3.8.10

The processing is not chosen on the axis itself: double-click the signal axis to open the Post Acquisition Processing dialog and pick it there — Integration, Peak-to-peak or RMS in the Integration group, one of them at a time, or FFT. The axis follows: it is the integrated kind whenever one of the three reductions is on and the transient kind otherwise, and its icon shows which. The popup menu of the signal axis no longer offers these types. The title of axis is always signal. The trace parameter defines the length of the time trace and shots means shot per loop. The amount of stored points is defined by axis (processing) type, the length of trace (for T axis) and number of triggers see Ppl page.
