Demo Version

The Demo Version is a freely distributable build of SpecMan4EPR intended for evaluation, training and offline experiment development. It runs without a license and does not require any connection to real spectrometer hardware, so it can be installed on any computer to explore the interface, write and test Experiment scripts, and replay acquired data.

What the Demo Version can do

The Demo Version provides the complete SpecMan4EPR environment – the full GUI, the Pulse and AWG Engine, the scripting language, data processing and the Remote control – identical to the licensed release. The only restriction is on the set of available device drivers: real hardware drivers are not built in.

Instead, the demo works with emulated and software-only devices. The most capable of these is the List of supported devices JEM driver, a JIVA-25 emulator that reproduces spectrometer behaviour closely enough to run realistic pulse EPR experiments end to end. Together with the dummy devices this allows a complete experiment – pulse sequence generation, acquisition and signal emulation – to be demonstrated on a computer with no instrument attached. Available devices

Only the emulated / software devices are included in the demo build. They are the first table of List of supported devices:

Any other device from the List of supported devices requires the full licensed release; selecting one is not possible in a demo build.

Licensing

The Demo Version runs unrestricted and never asks for a license file – the licensing checks described on the License page do not apply to it. To connect to real hardware, upgrade to the full licensed release.

Identifying a Demo build

A demo build is clearly marked in the version display. The status bar and the Help → About dialog show the version followed by DEMO (for example v 3.8.6 x64 DEMO), and a demo marker also appears in the startup log.
