SpecMan4EPR is a spectrometer and imager control software, a link between an user and custom-made hardware. Originally designed for electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) experiments, it can be applied to many other control areas. SpecMan4EPR is an integration platform for optimized and timed control of third party devices that produces a coherently working instrument with plenty of options for demanding experimentalist. For the laboratories that design their own spectrometers, SpecMan4EPR is an accelerated and direct way to a reliable and user-friendly instrument.

SpecMan4EPR is flexible and efficient. There are no limitations on types or numbers of connected devices or performed experiments. The instrument structure is described in the configuration files. The same software can run multiple configurations. This allows to provide an unified interface for different spectrometers and to reduce training costs.

The interface of the program is designed to satisfy most advanced experimental needs and, at the same time, to hide the underlying complexity. SpecMan4EPR's powerful pulse engine translates a command-based description of pulse sequences into digital pulses or arbitrary waveforms. It allows to build complicated experiments, even by a non-experienced user. This makes SpecMan4EPR an indispensable laboratory tool for spectroscopy and imaging.

For data processing SpecMan4EPR utilizes the power of MATLAB environment, which can be called from within the software.
